Buenos Aires Sights, Sounds and Hotels

The Plaza de Mayo, landscaped with lovely gardens and palm trees, is the oldest square in Buenos Aires in the city. Citizens assembled in the square when the first Patriotic Government was declared in May 1810, the supporters of Perón first rallied in 1945 to request the government for his release, and the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo protested here between 1976 and 1983. There are many colonial buildings along the square, which include Casa Rosada (fort), Metropolitan Cathedral, Banco de la Nación Argentina and the Cabildo (town hall). There is also the Piramide de Mayo, a monument built in 1812 to commemorate the anniversary of the May Revolution in 1811.

Buenos Aires' Plaza de Mayo is one of the many interesting historical sites that you can visit while you are in Buenos Aires. The outstanding Buenos Aires hotels will ensure your return.
