Bath Sights, Sounds and Hotels

The Roman Baths are the only hot springs in Britain, and the reason why Bath is in existence today. During the 18th century, when Bath was in its prime, these baths were always jam packed full of bathers, although to many this public display of mixed bathing was outrageous. You can walk all the way around the original Roman Baths, which are still in an amazingly good state of repair. The plumbing, which is still in working order, is 2000 years old. A visit to the Museum with its modern audio-visual interactive displays, and Victorian statues in the gallery will prove most pleasurable. In 1978, after a health scare, the baths were closed to the public, but public bathing in a large purpose-built glass-fronted complex not far away has recommenced.

The Roman Baths are a fantastic site to see, and the epitome of the World Heritage Site of Bath. Spend a few nights in any of the superb Bath hotels and get a true taste of this wonderful place.
